You won’t believe this. Raven Software’s Manveer Heir has posted a message on his Twitter stating that if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in the month of August, he’ll pay for your copy of Wolfenstein. However, in order to receive your money back, you’ll need to keep your copy of the receipt.

“Here’s the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) – SPREAD THE WORD,” his Twitter feed read. He didn’t go into anymore details about the throwdown with Madden 10.

However, from a bussiness stand point, this doesn’t make much sense, seeing that if the game does outsell Madden 10 in the month of August, the company, along with him, will be losing more money than they’ll receive from the game. Because when you pay the $60 dollars for your game, it goes out to many places. But, I’m not going into detail.

Today, the attained parent company of Bethesda Softworks, ZeniMax Media Inc. announced that it has completed the acquisition of id Software, creators of world-renowned games such as DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein, and the upcoming title, RAGE.

The acquisition by ZeniMax Media joins together two of the most respected videogame developers in the world, combining the FPS expertise of id with acclaimed RPG developer Bethesda Game Studios.

id Software will continue to operate under the direction of its founder, John Carmack. No changes will be made in the operations of id Software as development goes. However, all the principals at id have signed long-term employment contracts, assuring they will continue in their roles developing games.

“This was a unique opportunity to team with a smart, sophisticated publisher like Bethesda Softworks where the interests of the studio and the publisher will be fully aligned in the development and marketing of our titles,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software. “In addition, we will now have financial and business resources to support the future growth of id Software, a huge advantage which will result in more and even better games for our fans.”

“This puts id Software in a wonderful position going forward,” said John Carmack, who will continue to serve in his current role as Technical Director. “We will now be able to grow and extend all of our franchises under one roof, leveraging our capabilities across multiple teams while enabling forward looking research to be done in the service of all of them. We will be bigger and stronger, as we recruit the best talent to help us build the landmark games of the future. As trite as it may be for me to say that I am extremely pleased and excited about this deal, I am.”

In the August issue of GameInformer it contains details for the upcoming Wolfenstein a game currently in development at Raven Software (who also created the latest in id Software’s ‘Quake’ series). The game will be released on Microsoft Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 "when it’s done".

• Set in World War II among Nazis experimenting with occult powers once again.
• B.J. Blazkowicz making comeback, this time also having supernatural powers of his own.
• Set in one large city, which will open itself up as you progress through given missions and quests.
• Randomly generated content blocking your path at times.
• AI controlled local resistance, assisting you in fight at times.
• An alternative reality called "The Shroud", some sort of a parallel dimension fueling Nazi powers.

At this time no future details where given on the game.
