They’re like peanut butter and chocolate; they’re great on their own but combine them, and there’s something special. The combination of Street Fighter and Tekken is as big as fighting games will ever be, but the collaboration drew some mechanical concerns.

However, project lead Yoshi Ono said that fans shouldn’t be worried. In Street Fighter X Tekken, characters are grouped as tag team partners. Players can choose from whomever, but the teams are automatically put together with their own backstories. Between the two universes there are alot of characters which should be difficult to combine, but there’s a method to the madness.

“Because of our criteria, we’re trying to find ones that will be the hardest, the most difficult, and require the most work to get them up and running because it not only makes it more fun for us, but it will make it a more compelling game in the end,” explained the project lead.

“Out of the characters we revealed here, one of the more surprising might be Marduk. I mean, we’ve got some Street Fighter characters that have grappling techniques like him, but none who moves like he does using those kind of moves.”

Namco Banbai revealed today that it has completed the development of Tekken 6 and that it’s one step closer to its release on October 27th (in North America). Along with that, Namco Banbai also detailed the games online component for the very first time. Details are as followed:

Ranked Match and Player Match: Rank up or work to improve your fighting skills by battling opponents worldwide in online versus mode with voice chat functionality.

Data Upload and Download: Create and upload customised ghost characters which accurately replicate your fight style; Any player in the world can download your ghost to take on your virtual self in a one-on-one battle even when you’re not online; Upload replays of killer matches to share with friends and opponents around the world.

Scenario Online Co-op: New feature coming this winter as a free post-launch downloadable update; Jump into intense two player online co-op campaigns against AI controlled enemies and experience the dramatic large-scale action with friends around the globe.

Leaderboards: Battle Points - online only, split between World, Asia, America and Europe; Rank: overall on and offline ranking, from Beginner to Tekken God; Additional rankings include Ranked Match, Scenario Campaign, Time Attack and Survival.

There are also some exclusive PlayStation Network online features.

Tekken 6 Title Lounge: Host Versus and Co-op Sessions: Gather friends and start matches from the Lounge within PlayStation Home; Online Scenario co-op mode coming free this winter; Home Rewards: Players have the chance to win exclusive costume pieces and furniture at the Lounge for their personal space.

We all could have seen this one coming from a mile away, but it was all just about the matter of timing and that time was at TGS. Today, at TGS at Microsoft’s keynote, they confirmed that Sony’s hit fighting game Tekken will be making a landing onto the Xbox 360 sometime next autumn for the games sixth installment, Tekken 6. Also like I said before it’s all about a matter of time and by the way things are looking you can only wonder what other game will be making it’s way on to the Xbox 360.
