They’re like peanut butter and chocolate; they’re great on their own but combine them, and there’s something special. The combination of Street Fighter and Tekken is as big as fighting games will ever be, but the collaboration drew some mechanical concerns.

However, project lead Yoshi Ono said that fans shouldn’t be worried. In Street Fighter X Tekken, characters are grouped as tag team partners. Players can choose from whomever, but the teams are automatically put together with their own backstories. Between the two universes there are alot of characters which should be difficult to combine, but there’s a method to the madness.

“Because of our criteria, we’re trying to find ones that will be the hardest, the most difficult, and require the most work to get them up and running because it not only makes it more fun for us, but it will make it a more compelling game in the end,” explained the project lead.

“Out of the characters we revealed here, one of the more surprising might be Marduk. I mean, we’ve got some Street Fighter characters that have grappling techniques like him, but none who moves like he does using those kind of moves.”

As it was stated in many reports over the last week, Street Fighter IV will not be spending this holiday season, in Japan, under a tree. In a press event held in Tokyo, Capcom release its plans to reveal Street Fighter IV in Japan in February of ’09 on both on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The direct release date for the game is still waiting to be know in the United States, but still we can’t wait to play the game in the U.S. This news was released to the public in a fighting game press event by Capcom in Tokyo, just for you guys that missed it in my other article.

The last Street Fighter movie was downright atrocious, but that doesn’t always mean that you should give up on the game as a movie series, or does it? We all may know as Steven E. de Souza has the guy who messed up with the games creditable as a film back in 1994. Well, when he was speaking to the guys at MTV’s Movie Blog he said that “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li,” will be better then the first movie which was simply entitled “Street Fighter”.

“When we were making the original one, they insisted that all of the characters be in the movie,” de Souza remembered with a sigh. “And if you do the math, that gives you about 7 minutes per character if you split it up equally.”

“I’m envious of this group, because they’re able to construct a movie around a single character rather than a three-ring circus that needs to be lassoed with the story,” he insisted. “It’s a rich universe, and I think it can support all of these versions.”

Confirmed last month in an issue of Famistu, Capcom has now confirmed in update on the official Japanese website for their upcoming video game, Street Fighter IV, that the game will be receiving two new protagonists. We also have gained some more information on another upcoming character, we learned that Cammy should joining the cast after being chosen by the community to be part of the remaining characters.

While the fourth version, Street Fighter IV, has only just landed in the land of the Rising Sun, and that version does emerge at home until this winter. The producer of Street Fighter IV, Yoshinori Ono, already mentioned the next episode of the series in a brief interview.

In an interview with MTV’s Multiplayer Blog, he told them that “It’s really early to be thinking about that because “IV” just came out in the arcades,” he said. “I don’t really think anyone at Capcom is thinking about “V” just yet. What we might see happen, depending on feedback from the arcade and what players think of this version of “IV,” we may or may not see upgrades to “IV” before we ever take the next big step to “V.” It’s really is just too early to tell, to be honest.”

According to producer Patrick Aiello, Ryu and Ken will not be featured in the latest Street Fighter movie. Here’s what he had to say:

"Capcom got together and decided to make it more of an origin story for Chun Li. There are just way too many characters in the Street Fighter universe to cram them all into one film. We want to do each one the justice he/she deserves. So, in short, Ken and Ryu will not be appearing in this film. But, that doesn’t mean we wont see our red and white-clad heroes in potential sequels… "
