If you aren’t happy with the current map selection for Brütal Legend’s Stage Battle multiplayer mode, I have some important news for you. Double Fine, the games developers, have announced Brütal Legend’s first episode of downloadable content entitled “Tears of the Hextadon“, which includes two new maps for the games Stage Battle mode.

In the first map, Circle of Tears, vile waters have carved a rough-hewn circular battlefield into a forsaken land that players must circumvent to destroy their opponent. In the second map, Death’s Fjord, players find themselves on an icy mountain pass with a dense cluster of fans that lie below, waiting to be harvested by those brave enough to capture them without cover from enemy attack. Also, all players who download the new map pack will receive a free axe, the Blade of Ormagöden.

“I play Brütal Legend online every night,” said Tim Schafer, President of Double Fine Productions. “And I need more maps! Circle of Tears is named after the crying of my vanquished foes on the battlefield, and Death’s Fjord is obviously a tribute to my Nordic ancestors, and their love of fan geysers and… Well, actually I just thought the name was cool. See you online!”

Tears of the Hextadon will be available on Xbox LIVE on November 3 for 400 MS Points and on PlayStation Network on November 5. And to up the anty, those that purchase the game via the PlayStation Network by November 19 will be able to download the content for free.

With a series of them releasing in the UK, Sony today revealed a 250GB PlayStation 3 Slim bundle for North America – basically, toping the PlayStation 3’s holiday competition in terms of hard dive space.

Going on sales on November 3rd, the 250GB model will feature the same “slim look” and feel as the recently released 120GB slim system, which is currently going on sale for $249.99. However, the new 250GB model will come packing at the total price of $349.99 - actually $100 more then the regular Slim.

With this new space, players can now store more of their favorite games, movies/TV shows, music, photos and PlayStation Network downloads.

Namco Banbai revealed today that it has completed the development of Tekken 6 and that it’s one step closer to its release on October 27th (in North America). Along with that, Namco Banbai also detailed the games online component for the very first time. Details are as followed:

Rush to your nearest console because Electronic Arts has revealed today that the Need for Speed: SHIFT demo is available for download via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace right now.

If you can’t remember, some time during this year Sony released a survey asking the fans what they would like to see in a God of War III collectors edition, and, in the survey, an overwhelming amount of the community members wished for the previous God of War titles to be available on the PlayStation 3.

With that said, Sony has announced that the critically acclaimed God of War franchise will be headed to the PlayStation 3 in a collaboration of all the previous God of War titles. The collaboration is entitled God of War Collection.

Scheduled for release this holiday season, God of War Collection will feature reworked versions of both God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray Disc at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both critically acclaimed games, which were originally developed for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the first time (included for both games).

“We are excited today to announce God of War Collection,” said Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America. “Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected.”

The game will go on sale this holiday for $39.99.

When revealing the special editions for Modern Warfare 2, there was the mention of a downloadable version of the original Call of Duty. However, it was said that you’ll have to buy either the Hardened or Prestige editions be given a token for the game. But, people have been wondering if Activison would be selling the game as a stand-alone arcade game.

“Prestige and Hardened Edition buyers will be getting access to Call of Duty: Classic first. It’ll eventually be coming out for both Xbox Live Arcade and PSN as a stand-alone arcade game,” Community Manager Robert Bowling confirmed to IGN.

Bowling also added that the game will have working multiplayer. “However, price and release date are unknown at this point. It’s the true original Call of Duty including full multiplayer.”

With the recent release of Battlefield 1943, it’s likely that the title would release at $15 to contend with Battlefield’s price.

On the Japanese version PSN a game entitled Gomibako, also know as Trash Panic, re-released today. The title is free to download, however, you have to pay 100 yen, or one dollar, for every three lives. You die three times, you have to pay another dollar. The cycle viciously continues until you either decide to stop spending money or stop playing.

Luckily, Trash Panic allows you to gain rewards that are featured in Playstation Home. However, this wasn’t a feature in the original Trash Panic. In the traditional game, you brought the game and played as much as wanted.

Anyway, this is a test run for future games that will run on this pay as you play model. However, is it an alternative for people who play games less and thus do not have to spend as much money as someone who plays regularly? Who knows, but I prefer a to pay for my games up front,  not having to worry about spending another dime.

With a name such as “Prestige” the only conclusion is that it would cost an arm and a leg. To add to that, there’s the fact that it comes fully packed with a pair of “fully functional night version goggles”. Seems like it’s going to cost alot, doesn’t it.

So what’s the cost Infinity Ward? Their response; a reasonable price.

To get the “Prestige” version, which includes an art book, limited Steelbook case and a token to download the original Call of Duty, plus the “fully functional” night version goggles, you should expect to pay $149 USD, almost twice that of the $79 “Hardened” edition.

Infinity Ward also confirmed, via its Twitter account, that the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network versions of the original Call of Duty will have multiplayer support.

After months of wondering when we’re going to get a chance to play the game, DICE has announced today that Battlefield 1943 will be available on July 8th on Xbox Live and on July 9th for the PlayStation Network.

The latest addition into downloadable content infantry that is Burnout Paradise, Big Surf Island, will arrive on Xbox Live and PSN on June 11th – revealed in a spiffy new trailer for the game.

Just when you though this game couldn’t be anymore amazing. In a press alarm today, it was revealed by both Eidos and Warner Bros. that The Joker will  be playable in the PlayStation 3 version Batman: Arkham Asylum, which was orginally revealed by scoures in Home – a PlayStation 3D open world program.

Alot of people have been, appearently, asking about this. Now, it seems that SEGA has the answered the call. Beginning on April 16th PlayStation owners will be able to return to Gallia to fight in new EWII battles once more in the upcoming Downloadable Content for Valkyria Chronicles, which you can only play if you have the game.

Capcom has finally confirmed that the Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode DLC will be released on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network this week.

Available from tomorrow, the DLC will set you back $5 on PSN (or 400 Microsoft Points) and it will included the following new multiplayer modes:

Slayer – A point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis.
Survivor – Players hunt the most dangerous game, each other!

Players can pick from Chris, Sheva and any of the hidden characters in a one-on-one or two-versus-two setting for either gameplay modes.

It’s very easy to tell that Paramount and Bad Robot’s downloadable title is a Star Trek game that is a top-down, space combat arcade title – which will be available on PSN and Live. But, other then that, we get very mixed up on the ‘DAC’ part of the title, and I mean really mixed.

Star Trek: DAC is “focused on fun, not a retelling of the story” of JJ Abram’s upcoming Star Trek reboot, according to Ben Hoyt, senior producer at Paramount Games. When calling Star Trek: DAC a mixture of Subspace and Geometry Warswhen describing the game.

Developed by Roboblitz creators Naked Sky Entertainment, Star Trek: DAC will support 12-person multiplayer, with two teams of six. AI bots will fill in the blanks if needed, or should your federation of online friends be unavailable. The game will also feature three modes, including solo play, cooperative play and a versus mode. Star Trek: DAC is due to hit Xbox Live Arcade in May, on or near the release of the movie.

Besides all the controversy over the game’s downloadable content not being free, and that it didn’t come with the full retail version of the game. We can, without a doubt, tell you that the downloadable content for Resident Evil 5 has indeed been delayed, which Capcom announced this morning.

Earlier this month, Capcom announced Resident Evil 5’s ‘versus mode’ DLC will becoming to the market, which means that it’s going to be on both PSN and Live – sorry for the messed up translation. They also revealed the games prices on the system’s marketplaces ($5 on the Playstation Network and 400 Microsoft Points on Live).

They have announced that it has changed its released date to April 9, according to Capcom’s Japanese notice – it’s only for Japan kids. “We deeply apologize to those customers who have been waiting for this down loadable content,” Capcom states.

As it was revealed the other day, Resident Evil 5 will be getting a added multiplayer gameplay mode, but instead of it coming in the full game, it looks like it will be coming as paid DLC. I know, why didn’t they just add it into the full game? Well, you aren’t the only person to ask that question.

However, Capcom did reply to the recation yesterday to the announcement. “Although Versus mode makes use of the assets that exist in the game, the functionality is not currently in the game and is above and beyond the initial scope of Resident Evil 5,” Capcom reported to CVG.

“We have never included a Versus mode in Resident Evil before, and as well as the costs of development of the feature, there’s also additional bandwidth costs associated with it,” it added.

The patch, costing $4.99 on PSN, or 400 MS points on 360, will introduce new Versus modes – Slayer and Survivor.

Update: We have just been informed that GameStop has revealed there pre-order goody, which gives people access to the Killzone 2 Demo. We have also learned that codes granting access to the Killzone 2 Demo will be sent via email starting on February 3rd.

Original: There have been alot of things that shocked us over the past year and well this one is not as cool as it may come on to be, it is still, by itself, a great reason why you should pick up this game.

As we were saying, this really doesn’t make me want to pre-order this game from Best Buy, but it’s still looks amazing. Any-how, apparently in a mailing to PlayStation Network users, Sony and Best Buy have announced the pre-order bonus for the Killzone 2. And here’s where is gets interesting, it is a “free theme”.

The theme will be, and is, exclusive to those that pre-order the game at Best Buy, but before you do that make sure to wait for the GameStop’s pre-order goody to be shown because lets gets real, would be buy a game for a theme that you can get for free?

Also there is also a pack for an outfit from Home that comes with the a Killzone 2 Amazon.com pre-order that gives you a “Exclusive Pre-order PS Home Elements Costume”. Killzone 2 will be shipping exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in February 2009.

Guess what? It’s what you’ve been waiting for. Jimi Hendrix will now have downloadable content for Guitar Hero: World Tour. After announcing the news before the games release, the rock legend will now have a set of three songs coming out on November 13th. To be more specific the DLC will contain the songs If 6 was 9, Little Wing, and a live version of fire. The content will be available for 440 Microsoft points on Xbox Live Marketplace and $5.49 on the PlayStation Store. If music fans can not afford the DLC, the following week on November 20th. There will be another trio of songs by the band called “The Raconteurs”. The songs Salute your Solution, Hold Up, and Console of the lonely. These three songs can be purchased separately on XBL for 160 MP each, $1.99 each on the PSN also on the Wii Store for 200 Wii points each, the game is now out on all three next gen consoles.

Capcom has now announced that downloadable content will be hitting this Tuesday with not even a week since its debut of the game, Mega Man 9, on the marketplace. This is a much needed DLC that set’s the game higher above the rest in the franchise. Set to be unveiled with this download, the game will interlude a new playable chacter named Proto Man and will add a mode called Endless Attack. While prices have not been announced it’s most likely that the DLC may go for the price of $2.00-$3.00 dollars to reflect the price on Nintendo’s WiiWare service. If you would like more information you’ll just have to wait a little bit longer because the rest of the expected DLC will make its way in the upcoming week of October 20th.

LucasArts has many games featuring the name Star Wars, but what makes this game any different then the others? Well, for one thing the name speaks for it’s self, with a name like that you wont need any advertisements because it has everything to with releasing the Force. Today, LucasArts revealed that it’s recently release demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has been download over 1 Million times on the Xbox 360 via Xbox live. This means that this game has been downloaded faster then the 360 original, Too Human. In addition to the record-breaking achievement LucasArts has revealed that the demo been downloaded more than 2.3 million times worldwide to date on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Today, Ubisoft announced that Driver, a huge hit on the original PlayStation, will be coming to the PlayStation Network. Here’s how Ubisoft describes the game,“Driver puts you in the driving shoes of Tanner, an undercover cop tasked with infiltrating an illegal syndicate through his impressive driving skills in a variety of cities across the globe.” The games was developed by Ubisoft Reflections and is set to hit PSN on August 14th for €4.99. And by the games pricing you can see that the game will be Europe-only, for now hopefully.

A very interesting listing has popped up on the official Entertainment Software Rating Board website. According to the listing, Rachet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty will be rated E10+, the game was an open secret which was revealed by PS3Fanboy . There was many signs which pointed to the game of being a PSN download, but yet it’s still unclear whether this will just an add-on to Ratchet & Clank Future or if it’s a game by it’s self.

In a post on the Official PlayStation Blog, Simon Phillips Criterion Games designer made a confirmation that It’s open world set in the fictional Burnout Paradise City will soon support PS3’s upcoming trophy system after the future update Cagney which will hit on July 10.

As for the post made he did mention that the trophy support will be retroactive meaning that that the saves are locked into a single PSN ID with the progress that you have made in the game will be unlocked as the update is release.

Trophies, Timed Challenges for Burnout Paradise [PS Blog]

First it was "Blu-ray is the wave of the future" now Sony seems to think that the "disc-based delivery system will fall". According to a report giving by the guys over at Destructoid, SCEE president David Reeves said, at a developer conference in London, that the future is the PlayStation Network. At the conference he also gave some internal figures that showed over 40 per cent of PS3 owners download games direct to their machines.

"We do believe that the disc-based delivery system will fall as the power of the network base rises. At the same time, the overall industry growth will continue to go upwards as we push out into emerging markets."

KOEI have announced today that Fatal Inertia EX will be hitting the PLAYSTATION Network on Thursday, June 19th. While the game was  supposed to hit PSN last month, but due to something technical it was delayed . It will be available on the store for $29.99 along with a demo for people who would like to give this game a try.

Ubisoft has confirmed with CVG that a demo for Tom Clancy’s: EndWar will be hitting this year on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The demo will precede two closed beta tests that will give Ubisoft the opportunity to make sure the game is properly balanced.

Ubisoft content director Julian told CVG that “We’ve balanced it fairly well, but we’re doing two different beta tests – one limited and one much much bigger.”

“And then a demo where we’re going to be able to balance on the results. We’re doing a playtest with professional gamers to make sure there are as few exploits as possible before launch.”

According to a thread posted by one of the Atari staff members, a demo for Dragonball Z: Burst Limit will be available over the PLAYSTATION Network at midnight. So “KAMEHAMEHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.

Dragonball Z: Burst Limit is complete with online battles, 3D graphic, enhanced playable characters, realistic battle stages, and much more. The story takes place from beginning of the Saiyan Saga to the end of the Cell Saga. The video game based off the popular anime show Dragon Ball Z, the game is releasing for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that it will be adjusting the prices of downloadable content on the PlayStation Store for Canada during tomorrow’s weekly update. Canadian residents have been getting angry at Sony due to being overprices, and Sony is finally addressing it.

"We are continually looking for ways to enhance the player experience on the PLAYSTATION®Network, and downloadable content through the PLAYSTATION Store is just one of our areas of focus," said Grace Chen, Senior Manager for the PLAYSTATION Store. “We anticipate that this price adjustment will meet the expectations of our Canadian consumers and provide them with a better PLAYSTATION Network experience."

Today, Eidos announced that starting on April 17, 2008 gamers will be able to download four new multiplayer maps Kane & Lynch. You can download the DLC for the price of zero dollars, or free.

"Eidos will be announcing on Tuesday April 8, the upcoming release of four new downloadable maps for the Fragile Alliance multiplayer mode in Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The maps will be downloadable for FREE on April 17, from Xbox LIVE and from the PLAYSTATION Network for the PS3. The new maps will be released in one downloadable pack entitled ‘The Dope Bag’, with each of the four maps featuring its own unique scenario."
