Today, Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Wii, “the world’s most popular home video game system”, will receive a price cut. The price cut will take effect on September 27 in the United States, and, as advertised, the console will drop down to $199.99 – which is exactly $50 less then the current price of $249.99.

“Wii has reached more video game players than any game system before because it attracts everyone—both men and women, and people of all ages,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. ”Our research shows there are 50 million Americans thinking about becoming gamers, and this more affordable price point and our vast array of new software mean many of them can now make the leap and find experiences that appeal to them, whatever their tastes or level of gaming experience.”

Grease gets summer loving from 505 Games and Paramount Digital Entertainment with the announcement that 505 Games has secured the global publishing rights for a video game based on the original high school musical. The game will be will oversee and publish for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

The Grease video game will allow players to sing and dance alongside Danny, Sandy, The Pink Ladies and the T-Birds. The game will take full advantage of the Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensing controls and microphone, and the DS’s touch screen to create exciting gameplay for casual and family gamers eager to experience Grease in a new medium.

“We are really excited about working with Paramount Digital Entertainment to turn this world famous film into a video game for the very first time. Working with such a well known and much loved brand is a great opportunity and we believe the collaboration further strengthens 505 Games’ entertainment portfolio,” commented Ian Howe, Managing Director 505 Games.

Nintendo really didn’t forget about us this time. During the finally minutes of the Nintendo Press Conference, Nintendo announced the sequel the the hit 3D Mario title, Super Mario Galaxy 2 coming exclusively to the Wii.

From the trailer, you can tell that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the same deal as its predecessor. Also, it looks like the graphics have gone through some improvement. The game is said to release in 2010.

And you though YOU couldn’t wait unlit next week. Today, Electronic Arts revealed the games that it well be presenting at E3. Anyway, this year’s lineup features blockbuster franchises, new intellectual property as well as ten titles for the Wii. And thrust us when we say, “there’s more then you can shake a stick at.”

In some casses developers call the Nintendo Wii “a chance to do more” with a seires, or franchise, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the ‘Star Fox’ developers.

In an interview with G4, Q Games President Dylan Cuthbert talked about there upcoming game PixelJunk Eden. Along with that, he also talked about the Star Fox franchise. And when being asked about the chance of them doing another Star Fox game on the Wii he replyed saying ” in another 10 years.”

When G4 asked why, he had this to say about the Wii.

“The problem with that is that it’d be a big project, like 100 people on the staff. It’s just not something we really want to do. I’m sure someone will make it. Maybe they’ll go back to Namco.”

You’ll never have to purchase another video card again, because it now seems that PC gaming has changed for the better with OnLive. I know, it sounds kind of corny, but don’t let that fool you it really is something unique.

This device this the brainchild of Rearden Studios’ founder Steve Perlman, and Mike McGarve, who worked at Eidos. It is a device that gives players the ability to play there favorite PC games on their televisions, and it is also is self proclaimed “micro console” with a price lower then the Nintendo Wii.

Here’s how it works; you control the game where every you are, as long as you have a strong internet connection near by that you can access, but instead of the game being read from a disc, it reads it via “cloud gaming” technology – which is basically the device reading something sent by signals in the atmosphere, right to your OnLive console.

Here’s the good part, it delivers video at up to 720p resolution at frame rates up to 60 frames per second, and of course the quality depends on you connection – because the servers. These servers will be located in Santa Clara, Texas, Virginia and elsewhere, in which they are hoping to deliver a seemingly lag-free experience to OnLive subscribers within 1,000 miles.

There are even talks of there being a monthly subscription at about the same price as Xbox Live. The device it said to hit this winter.

“OnLive is games on demand. What we do is make available the top, high-end titles at the same window they’re released at retail – so the same time they’re on the store shelves you have access to them – and you can play all these high-end titles on any entry level PC or Mac just through a plug-in that’s just one megabyte in size in your browser, or using this OnLive micro-console,” said Steve Perelman told GTTV.

While many of us are making our way through Resident Evil 5, Capcom has announced – at RE5 launch party – that the Nintendo Wii  will be getting two ’Resident Evil classics’.

The collaboration will be feature the first Resident Evil remake and series prequel Resident Evil Zero with added motion control, according to N-Europe. While it is still unknown whether the games will be released in one package,  similar to the Japanese versions that released early last year.

“Capcom’s new Resident Evil ‘Classics’ line will allow the new audience who has embraced the Wii to experience some of the greatest games in the Resident Evil franchise for the value price of $29.99. Both set to launch this year, the remake of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero have been refitted to support the Wii Remote, giving the Wii audience easy access to the rich characters and in-depth storylines of the series and the chance to experience both games on a new platform,” read the Press Release.

For a game that has so little hype, it seems that Ready 2 Rumble Revolution has the chance to be one of the greatest Wii titles of this year. I know, I know. It isn’t as good looking as MadWorld, but if they don’t mess it up it can, at least, be good. And just so that we have a solid back story here’s a list of reasons why.

The family element: Okay, we all know that people in your family don’t know alot about video games, or atleast not as much as you do, and knowing them they will buy the game for you.

Larger list of playable characters: Being the third game in the series you know there isn’t going to be a short list of characters.

Funny looking people: I don’t mean to be mean, but who doesn’t want to mess up the face’s of funny looking characters? Let’s face it, you all want to pick on these characters because they look funny, just look at the picture I used for this article, doesn’t it make you want to beat him up?

The BIG Las Vegas Showdown: Personally, I have never been to Las Vegas so I’m thinking that when this game comes out I can make a character and take him, or her, all the way to ‘the BIG Las Vegas showdown’.

Controls: Being, what is one of the key parts of the game, this game can really be very strong on the controls area mainly because it uses the Wii control system from it’s a boxing game.

I know this list isn’t going to win you over, but if it doesn’t do good in all these areas along with the family fun factor it can’t be the on of the best Wii titles this year. So please don’t suck Ready 2 Rumble Revolution.

In now what is the shadow of the announcement of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash Up announcement, the gang has seemed, once again, to reveal itself in the form of new images. The images show the titles many protagonists in action positions, and we all know their names by heart. Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and the same master Splinter, and all these characters you will be able to play this year exclusively on the Wii.

Sometime back, we had confirmation that UbiSoft were “working hard on the product”, but with the confirmation they didn’t give a release target for the game. Now, an industry analyst, Michael Pachter, thinks that he has the prefect release target for the game.

In a note to investors today in anticipation of Ubisoft’s third-quarter earnings report, Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities predicted that Assassin’s Creed 2 will be out before the end of the company’s 2010 Fiscal Year.

“We believe investors should focus on Ubisoft’s prospects for FY:10, particularly as its products continue to sell well on the strong Wii and DS platforms, and as it rolls out a suberb [sic] lineup. We expect solid year-over-year growth from the casual (Nintendo) games lineup, with the introduction of two new brands next fall, and expect strong revenue contribution from Assassin’s Creed 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and Avatar next fiscal year.”

The Nintendo Wii is the fastest selling video game console ever made and still is continuing to grow, sale-wise, but it looks like the Nintendo Wii, itself, isn’t finished growing. As you may already know, Nintendo’s plan for its console is to generate more revenue from content.

And to help it’s reach its goal, Nintendo is planning to launch a TV program on its console called Wiinoma in Japan by the end of this year. Along with it, comes plans for an international expansion.

The program will be available to those with both a Wii console and an internet connection, and will feature cartoons, cookery programs, brain-training quizzes and lifestyle shows. The company has plans to make most of the content free, but there will also be some pay-per-view content via Wii Points.

As you can probably see, this is going to cause some worries between Japanese television executives because this is just a next step in the Wii becoming, “the centre-piece of the living room”.

Rumors have been circling around as of late that Nintendo has a WiiHD system in development and has been showing it off to a few select people. After all the speculation recently increased when analyst Michael Pachter said that he is “absolutely convinced” that the system is out there. Shigeru Miyamoto was recently interviewed by 3sat and the topic of discussion was about the rumored Wii HD console. Here’s his comments on the rumored Wii HD console:

“…I’m afraid we cannot confirm what we are doing today. But the fact of the matter is that technology is evolving all the time and in Japan, for example…All the analog broadcast will be stopped and shifted into the digital broadcasting. So many things are taking place and we are working in terms of the changes of the technologies all the time.” said Miyamoto.

While Nintendo is still leading the pack, if you ask Activision Blizzard for their input on the out growth of a system they seem to think that the PS3 will see more growth than the Xbox 360 by the end of ‘08. According to GameDaily, in a conference call Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith provided the company’s expectations for console hardware growth in North America and Europe combined.

Griffith said that while the Xbox 360 is expected to grow by an additional six to seven million units for this calendar year, Sony’s PS3 should grow by eight million units. But, anyway if you were to point to fact neither the PS3 nor the 360 can stack up against the Wii, but it depends on which continues to sell at a torrid pace. But, he does expect the Nintendo Wii to sell by another 15 million units this year.

He also mentioned that Activision believes handhelds will grow by 24 million units, but he did not break that down into DS vs. PSP sales, go figure.

The system many not be that popular in the eye’s of some North America people, but in Japan it just shows how key Nintendo is to them. Today, according to the popular Japanese gaming website, Famitsu, Nintendo DSi sold over 170,779 in about two days of the system being released in Japan. They go on to report that the first shipment sold in just a number of minutes. And that by comparison Nintendo DS and lite sold in total domestic sales 23,624,419 units and by the introduction of Nintendo DSi, Nintendo looks to add to that munber.

Last year, many of us were very shocked by the low supply of Wii’s, mainly because every kid and parent wanted to have it. This low stock was caused by the Wii’s, then, very low price and fun factor, but by the looks of things we maybe in for it again this Holiday season. When interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime hinted of the fact that there could be a chance that the Nintendo Wii may not be able to meet the demand this Holiday season.

In fact the Wii is still very hard to get your hands on today, Reggie even stated that, “one of our competitors’ projects,” he said (we’re thinking he meant Sony), “they will sell 10 million consoles worldwide this year. For us, that’s three months of production.” And if you add it all up this number doesn’t add up this will mean that they aren’t meeting production standards. Here’s why: the Wii production is suppose to be up 33% over last year, from 1.6 million consoles per month to 2.4 million. That’s why they aren’t meeting the standard.

Violence in video games is a topic that remains a strong in the gaming industry today, but what do the game developers that use other ways than violence think about it? When speaking to speaking to Channel 4, a UK TV station, Shigeru Miyamoto explained his concern on game developers using violence to attract the gamers attention.

“I don’t want to curb freedom of expression, but I am concerned many developers focus on excessive violence in order to stimulate people’s minds,” he argued. “I believe that here are more ways of grabbing player’s attention than violence alone.” He also said that parents have a responsibility of playing the role in and making sure their children play games with the right content: “I also hope that parents take advantage of age ratings when letting their children play.”

Whether on Xbox 360 or Wii Dead Rising remains the same and knowing Capcom they just can’t ever leave their fans empty handed. That’s why according to the latest issue of the famous Japaneses mag, Famitsu, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will make an appearance on the Wii in February 2009 in the land of the Rising Sun, which just happens to be Japan. The game was recent announced to feature 100 enemy’s on screen, which isn’t as much as the 360 version. This is because, as you may already know, the Wii can’t push as much as the 360 can but this is only graphic-wise.

Capcom has now announced that downloadable content will be hitting this Tuesday with not even a week since its debut of the game, Mega Man 9, on the marketplace. This is a much needed DLC that set’s the game higher above the rest in the franchise. Set to be unveiled with this download, the game will interlude a new playable chacter named Proto Man and will add a mode called Endless Attack. While prices have not been announced it’s most likely that the DLC may go for the price of $2.00-$3.00 dollars to reflect the price on Nintendo’s WiiWare service. If you would like more information you’ll just have to wait a little bit longer because the rest of the expected DLC will make its way in the upcoming week of October 20th.

Ubisoft has many franchises that have branded them much success in the gaming industry today, including the five star Tom Clancy gaming franchise. The games in the Tom Clancy franchise have been born and reborn onto many of the popular video games systems over the years every since the franchise was made. Now, today in an interview with GameDaily, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that the Tom Clancy franchise maybe headed to the Nintendo Wii. Here’s what he had to say on the Tom Clancy franchise being reborn on the Wii, “Tom Clancy will appear at one point. We need to make sure they [look good]. We need to make sure they [look good].” As many of us may already know, Nintendo has the most exclusive games on the market right now and it will be to no surprise if we where to see an exclusive Tom Clancy game on the Wii.

During Comic-Con, which took place yesterday in San Diego, Activision comfirmed the development of Marvel Ultimate Alliance II: Fusion. Which is scheduled for PS3, Wii and X360, the game is currently in production at Vicarious Visions studios . No other information was given to us, sadly, but if you pick up the latest issue of GameInformer there should be more details in their Marvel Ultimate Alliance II article.

At Microsoft’s E3 press conference earlier this week, Microsoft unveiled avatars for the Xbox 360. The avatars are said to have a resemblance to Nintendo’s Miis for the Nintendo Wii. In an set down with IGN, Miyamoto sound very flattered that Microsoft would adapt something like the Nintendo’s Miis to their 360.

Here’s what he had to say about the Xbox 360 avatars “To see that a company like Microsoft has taken something we’ve done and kind of looked at it in a way and brought it out on their platform to kind of show that we’ve done has become the standard, I find quite flattering.”

Nintendo today announced that Animal Crossing: City Folk would be headed to the Wii. Along with the announcement of Animal Crossing for the Wii Nintendo announced Wii Speak for the Nintendo Wii. Wii Speak is a mic-like system for the Nintendo Wii.

Today, maybe all about Microsoft but, that can’t stop Nintendo at all. We got news that Nintendo is set to present a new accessory, in detail, for improving the performance of its Wiimote. They call the accessory the Wii MotionPlus, which is set to provide the response time of 1:1, which happens to be an instant.

This day couldn’t get any better, first it was the confirmation of the 360 price cut, then the rumor that the Lost Planet movie will be in there sometime in 2011 and now this. According to Nintendo Everything , in the latest issue of NGamer “promises that Disaster: Day of Crisis will be at E3.” There has not been too much information on the game as of late, the most of which only reported a delay in the Japanese release date. Every since that report no new launch date has been scheduled and Disaster seemed to be heading to the vaults.

According to a scan revealed by Forever Fantasy, the latest issue of Nintendo Power features an advertisement for the next issue of Nintendo Power, which is supposed to reveal a new game.

After Nintendo’s surprise announcement of Wario Land Shake for the Wii, new details have just poped up on the web.

Wario’s latest adventure looks like it’s being designed with both casual and hardcore gamers in mind. A side-scrolling platformer, the game makes use of 2D artwork to depict its characters and stages. The game promises a total of 20 stages, taking you through all the expected environments, including jungles, deserts, and caves.

Controls have been kept simple, with the Wiimote held horizontally and most of the action controlled with the D-pad and the 1 and 2 buttons. Nintendo is including some waggle controls as well. Shake the Wiimote up and down, and you can make Wario perform a few extra moves, like shaking coins free from an enemy you’ve grabbed onto. The Wiimote can also be tilted to control vehicles.

Blockbuster Inc. , a leading global provider of in-home movies and game entertainment, today announced it has rolled out retail video games and game hardware to all U.S. corporate-owned BLOCKBUSTER stores as part of a broader plan to significantly expand its game business.

Now, for the first time, customers can go into any U.S. corporate-owned BLOCKBUSTER store and purchase video game titles, hardware and accessories for the Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS game systems. In addition to expanding its retail games offering, Blockbuster is adding more game titles for rental with more copies than before across all platforms.

Famitsu magazine has revealed new screenshots for One Piece: Unlimited Cruise planned for a release this summer in Japan. The screenshots take place in the world of One Piece, in the game you play as pirate named the Monkey D. Luffy also called Straw Hat. The game is coming out for the Nintendo’s Wii and is based on the popular manga and anime One Piece .
