If you own an iPhone, and you love Chinatown Wars, I have some very exciting news for you. Today, Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will headed be to Apple’s handy portable system this fall. “Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple’s new gaming platforms.”

Chinatown Wars is currently available for the Nintendo DS and is also coming this fall for the PlayStation Portable system. The game follows the story of Huang Lee, a young Triad who travels to Liberty City after the mysterious death of his father. Players will navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a true trademark of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Namco Bandai has announced that its secured exclusive North American rights to publish all future Dragon Ball titles “across all major consoles and handhelds” for the next five years, beginning in January 2010.

Along with this, Namco Bandai has secured the right to initially publish three Dragon Ball titles in 2009, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo exclusively for Wii, and Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans exclusively for Nintendo DS.

“We are very excited to have signed this long term agreement with Toei Animation Co., Ltd and FUNimation Entertainment, which grants Namco Bandai Games North American multi-platform rights to the testosterone-driven, action-packed world of Dragon Ball,”said Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Namco Bandai Games America Inc..

“This move reunites Namco Bandai Games with the Dragon Ball series in North America which will considerably increase our ability to develop titles that perfectly capture every nuance of what makes the Dragon Ball world exciting to the consumer.”

Grease gets summer loving from 505 Games and Paramount Digital Entertainment with the announcement that 505 Games has secured the global publishing rights for a video game based on the original high school musical. The game will be will oversee and publish for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

The Grease video game will allow players to sing and dance alongside Danny, Sandy, The Pink Ladies and the T-Birds. The game will take full advantage of the Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensing controls and microphone, and the DS’s touch screen to create exciting gameplay for casual and family gamers eager to experience Grease in a new medium.

“We are really excited about working with Paramount Digital Entertainment to turn this world famous film into a video game for the very first time. Working with such a well known and much loved brand is a great opportunity and we believe the collaboration further strengthens 505 Games’ entertainment portfolio,” commented Ian Howe, Managing Director 505 Games.

“Paramount Digital Entertainment is pleased to be working with 505 Games to develop Grease,” said John Kavanagh, Senior Vice President of Video Games for Paramount Digital Entertainment. “Grease is the ideal opportunity to reach a broad gaming audience who love to sing, dance and have fun with a party-style game.”

The sales reports are in, making it clear that UFC 2009 Undisputed is May’s undisputed champion selling a total of 1,014,000 within May alone.

The title moved in 679,600 copies on the Xbox 360, 334,400 on the PlayStation 3, meaning that it overcame Nintendo’s donating Wii Fit by almost tripling its score putting it in second place. It also pwned EA’s, EA Sports Active putting it in third place.

In May hardware sales, revenue came in at $302.5 million, a 30 percent decline while software was off 17 percent at $448.9 million. “This is the first month that industry sales have dipped below $1 billion since August 2007,” NPD analyst Anita Frazier said in an email.

“May is typically one of the lowest revenue-generating months in any given year for the industry in general,” she added.

Finally. During the Nintendo keynote, Nintendo announced that it’s busy working on a new Super Mario Bros. title, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, coming exclusive to the Wii.

In the game players can jump on each other, shoot each other with fireballs and other attacks. Item boxes generally produce one item per character. Killed players reappear in bubbles and players can free them, or leave them stuck for a while. One of the new powerups is the Propeller Suit, a jump suit that has a helmet with a propeller. Shaking the Wii-remote will let players fly in the air.

When a player goes into a warp pipe the game forces the other players to follow in, where they fight over the coins in the secret room.

At the end of the level, as soon as one player grabs the flag pole, the other players have about three seconds to grab it for bonus points. The points are tallied up and the players are ranked.

According to Cammie from Nintendo, the game will release Holiday 2009.

A first look at Home Run Pinball and other mini-games featured within The Bigs 2. Get ready for some dimonds madness on July 7 on the Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360.

As it was revealed in last weeks episode of the Japanese Pokémon television show, it seems that Pokémon Gold and Silver will be remade for the Nintendo DS.

The tenth anniversary remakes will be called Pokémon Heart Gold and Poké Soul Silver – much like Fire Red and Leaf Green Gameboy Advance remakes of Pokémon Redand Pokémon Green.

Originally released on the Gameboy system in November of 1999, expect the DS remakes this autumn in Japan with new elements added.

With the recent showing of the “Games of the Year” Halo 3 and Fable 2 Xbox 360 Elite combination, it seems that Microsoft is planning on adding another Bundle to its list. But, this one will feature a Grand Theft Auto combination.

According to a retail listing Kotaku received earlier this week – which showed the Nintendo DS “Mother’s Day Bundle” which was announced recently – it showed a listing for an $399.99 price tag featuring a Grand Theft Auto IV and Xbox 360 Elite Bundle.

No release date, no expanded information on what, beyond GTA IV, will be included in the package. But, it was speculated that its most likely the first downloadable episode, The Lost & Damned.

It was a recipe for success: one of the biggest franchises in gaming, on the most popular platform available, leaving rest to positive reviews.

Well, that wasn’t the case with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars because the other day reports started coming in that the title is under has sold 100,000 units in the U.S. – a total of about 89,000 units. That compares to 805,000 units of “Pokémon Platinum” sold on the DS by Nintendo from its March 22 launch through April 4.

But, however, GameStop says that the game is ‘exceeding [their] expectations’.

“‘GTA: Chinatown Wars’ is exceeding our expectations and illustrating the power of the franchise on a new platform,” GameStop spokesman Chris Olivera said in an e-mail to MTV News. “We’ve seen a solid lift in sales of ‘Chinatown Wars’ following the launch of the DSi and believe that the product will continue to enjoy a long life at our stores as the buzz around the new handheld gaming experience continues to grow.”

The GTA series has become a bit of a mixed bag throughout the years. Upon changing up formulas, catering to different audiences, and bringing change to a formula that wasn’t exactly broken, its popularity continues to surge. With the recent release of Grand Theft Auto IV and its very first DLC episode, the franchise has gained and lost a myriad of fans. However, one thing remains unchanging: the fact that Rockstar has never been, nor will be, afraid to go there.

When Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was announced for the Nintendo DS, gamers collectively sighed with noticeable disgust. And why not? The DS has never particularly been seen as a platform for which more adult-oriented games could truly shine, that is, until now. A spectacular and intense throwback to the games that kickstarted the series’ success, Chinatown Wars is destined to become one of the DS’s must-play classics.

Fire up Chinatown Wars, and you’ll get acquainted with one Huang Lee. He’s making his way to the ubiquitous Liberty City in order to pass on a sword to his uncle. It’s no ordinary sword, as it’s symbolic in nature. After the slaying of Huang’s father, it’s his job to pass on the sword to the Triad head’s father. After some shady and unfortunate events unfold, Lee finds that the sword has been stolen and he’s tossed out into the sea, thought to be dead. With this, you’re thrust into the seedy underbelly that comprisees the single-player mode of Chinatown Wars.

Perhaps the very first thing you’ll notice is the long-awaited return of the top-down perspective from the heyday of Grand Theft Auto. What’s presented here is essentially a classic console installment downsized in every proper way imaginable to fit the DS like a glove. However, though it may look entirely alike, there are many ways in which it’s a bit different from its predecessors. Though everything is seen through a bird’s-eye view, the game is entirely 3D. Of course, that’s not exactly saying too much due to the DS’s graphical restrictions, but regardless of the bells and whistles expected these days from gaming youth, there is too much fun to be had here.  The best way to describe Chinatown Wars is a modern-day GTA title with a different camera angle.

Liberty City remains relatively unchanged from the days of the console releases, and if you feel the urge to explore right away, the entire city is unlocked at the onset. GTA wouldn’t be the mother of all sandbox titles if they didn’t cater to those of us with the burning desire to explore.  Exploring the city is one of the absolute biggest draws – if you see something that could possibly take you from point A to point B,it’s up for grabs. Commandeer a truck, a car, a bike, anything you want.  However, a good portion of your time will be spent exploring every nook and cranny on foot, because you can aim much better that way. You’ll be faced with many, many missions that require the sweet sound of shots ringing out -  a regular series staple.  There is a bevy of weaponry available via the ammunition dealer, ensuring that you always receive the proper tools to get any job done right. The implementation of a targeting system will ensure that you’re shooting to kill, but as the game wears on you may find that it makes certain areas of the game a bit easier than you’d like.

If you’ve ever wanted to live out the life of a drug dealer, Chinatown Wars delivers with its network of who’s buying low and who’s particularly needing a fix. It’s a living, breathing economy that works well, even incorporating real-life elements that could completely screw up even the best-laid of plans.  That’s right, a surprise sting could ruin your precious trade, leaving you with nothing if you hadn’t the presence of time to stockpile some goods. I found myself spending loads of time on this aspect of the game, forsaking storyline elements and productivity to make some quick cash and to forge some bonds with respected dealers around Liberty City. I can’t imagine this element going over well with whiny parents, but to be honest it really made the game for me. This level of interaction with the world was rather impressive, coming from a DS title Rather than relying on a cell phone to make plans, keep in touch, and all of those other important aspects, you’re given a PDA that works fantastically – allowing you to contact NPCs, and providing a great little GPS that you can use the stylus to navigate. It’s all about making the connections and networking.

Of particular interest is the new method in which you must lose the heat. Rather than simply evading cops, you must now take an offensive stance against those pigs, er, respected members of law enforcement. Driving away just won’t be enough anymore. Now you’ll find yourself going after the cop cars, effectively disabling them in order to lose your wanted level. This is an extremely satisfying addition to the series, and personally I hope to see it implemented in future, “big brother” console ports.

Chinatown Wars looks great, considering the hardware it’s got to work with. Music tracks as well as audio fit the mood perfectly, as well as score the action to a T. Rockstar has done a truly admirable job here in utilizing every bit of power the DS has to create a smashing new entry into the Grand Theft Auto series.

Closing Statement:

If you’re a veteran of the series, or if you’re just starting to get into the madness that is Grand Theft Auto, this is a  great first choice to start with, as it’s very accessible, reasonably priced, and you can take it with you. It’s a fantastic throwback to the original days of the series, if you remember the very first few iterations. This game is indeed a breath of fresh air for the franchise, and going back to basics is always a good thing. Check it out at your first convenience.

In last weeks episode of Invisible Walls, they covered all the big announcements at the Game Developers Conference.

And in the episode, which is by the way was their 51 episode, they covered one of the biggest games at the show, Punch-Out!. Within their discussion it was revealed that there were only 13 characters within the title and somewhere within their discussion the word “DLC” poped up.

However, according to one of the cast members, when asking a rep from Nintendo about them bring in more character via Downloadable Content they were told that they weren’t going to do DLC for the title.

Yeah, we know its not their newest Zelda Wii project, but it still awesome. Today, at Nintendo’s keynote at the Game Developers Conference, they revealed there newest Zelda project for the Nintendo DS entitled, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

The game looks to play alot like The Phantom Hourglass featuring dungeon maps on the top screen, gameplay on the bottom screen, and a fascination with trains.

In the trailer that was revealed at the keynote, Link seems to be a engineer for a train with a cannon mounted on it, which is viewable on the bottom. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks will be available this year for the Nintendo DS.

The day that we’ve been waiting for is finally upon us. Today, Nintendo confirmed that the DSi will be in U.S. markets on April 5, 2009  and that it will be launching in black and BLUE - blue being a new color – for the price of $169.99.

The DSi, which has been on sale in Japan since November 2008, has only been available in black and white. And it features two 0.3 megapixel cameras, larger screens, a new SD card slot and better speakers, but, sadly, there isn’t a Game Boy Advance cartridge like the others.

“Ever since the arrival of the first Game Boy, consumers worldwide have turned to Nintendo for their portable gaming,” said NoA sales boss Cammie Dunaway. “Nintendo DSi builds on Nintendo’s commitment to bringing fun and creative entertainment to everyone, and will allow consumers to personalize and share their very own experiences.”

Announced back at E3 for the PlayStation Portable, Resistance Retribution looks to bring life on the PlayStation Portable with the style of Resistance. Lucky, for the fans of the ground smashing title Resistance: Fall of Man, and 2, and the upcoming title Resistance Retribution, they will get to sample the game very soon.

When you pre-order Resistance Retribution through Amazon US before January 12th, you will receive an unique code which allows you to download and play, with early access to it, the Resistance Retribution demo.

The full game will support Resistance 2, similar to what is between the Wii and Nintendo DS. Only here it’s different. Once you hook up your PSP to your PS3, you will be able to play an alternate story through the special ‘Infected Mode’.

But, sadly, the demo does count for people in North America, mainly because restrictions to regions where the Amazon US ships to.

For the past 15 months, or so, Famitsu, a popular gaming magazine in Japan, had polled its readers on which game they are anticipating the most.  For a long Fifteen months Final Fantasy XIII (13) dominated the results, that is until now.

According to PSU, the beloved, once Sony exclusive, Final Fantasy XII’s number one spot has been hijacked for a much, apparently, more beloved Japanese franchise for its upcoming game, Dragon Quest IX, which is on the Nintendo DS.

However, PSU says that PlayStation 3 holds 6 of the 15 spots, which is almost half of the titles on the list. So basically, the system has more titles anticipated in Japan then any other system.

But, one would come to think that this is because of the game “system hopping” onto the both the PS3 and 360, but because its lead was for so long, even after they had made the announcement, it has to be something else.

So could this mean that the Japanese public is sick of Final Fantasy, and it’s a sea on barely any information?

What really is this? Was one of the first question that came to my mind when I first heard of this game back when it was leaked sometime ago. Now, we all know that so many games have been “confirmed” by the many ESRB leaks, but what we didn’t know was that this game was going to be apart of Activision’s Guitar Hero DS era, along with recent games like Guitar Hero On Tour and Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades.

Depending on how you feel, you may think that these games basically are the same, but apparently they aren’t. Guitar Hero Modern Hits is set to have new tracks, and that’s it, that how it plans to differ from the other games in the series! (which was stated from  the ESRB description).

But, anyway there was details given about  tracks in the game, Sum 41’s “Still Waiting”, Franz Ferdinand’s “The Fallen” and Finger Eleven’s “Paralyzer”. These were given thanks to , somewhat, objectionable lyrics for the game which is a reliable indicator that these songs will be in the game.

Many of us already know the true power of Nintendo in the gaming market, but what was a real shocker, was the amount that Nintendo DSi, the newest model of the Nintendo DS, sold by in Japan. So this news should come as no shocker.

Today, in the pages of Enterbrain, the publisher of Famitsu, we learn that the Nintendo DSi has already passed more than a million units in Japan, after making it market debut on November 1.

The company, Nintendo, reveals the numbers to the point, according to them the DSi has sold about 1,062,416 units so far, compared to the DS Lite which has sold about 17,348,252 and the DS which sold 6,449,206 to date.

While Nintendo is still leading the pack, if you ask Activision Blizzard for their input on the out growth of a system they seem to think that the PS3 will see more growth than the Xbox 360 by the end of ‘08. According to GameDaily, in a conference call Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith provided the company’s expectations for console hardware growth in North America and Europe combined.

Griffith said that while the Xbox 360 is expected to grow by an additional six to seven million units for this calendar year, Sony’s PS3 should grow by eight million units. But, anyway if you were to point to fact neither the PS3 nor the 360 can stack up against the Wii, but it depends on which continues to sell at a torrid pace. But, he does expect the Nintendo Wii to sell by another 15 million units this year.

He also mentioned that Activision believes handhelds will grow by 24 million units, but he did not break that down into DS vs. PSP sales, go figure.

The system many not be that popular in the eye’s of some North America people, but in Japan it just shows how key Nintendo is to them. Today, according to the popular Japanese gaming website, Famitsu, Nintendo DSi sold over 170,779 in about two days of the system being released in Japan. They go on to report that the first shipment sold in just a number of minutes. And that by comparison Nintendo DS and lite sold in total domestic sales 23,624,419 units and by the introduction of Nintendo DSi, Nintendo looks to add to that munber.

Violence in video games is a topic that remains a strong in the gaming industry today, but what do the game developers that use other ways than violence think about it? When speaking to speaking to Channel 4, a UK TV station, Shigeru Miyamoto explained his concern on game developers using violence to attract the gamers attention.

“I don’t want to curb freedom of expression, but I am concerned many developers focus on excessive violence in order to stimulate people’s minds,” he argued. “I believe that here are more ways of grabbing player’s attention than violence alone.” He also said that parents have a responsibility of playing the role in and making sure their children play games with the right content: “I also hope that parents take advantage of age ratings when letting their children play.”

It’s about time, when the Wii was released back in 2007 it was like hell to get your hands on a Wii, and you know what, it still is. According to Kotaku, during their press conference in San Francisco this morning Nintendo assured that the Wii and DS Lite would be in ample supply this holiday season.

“We have new games and new experiences for every kind of player this holiday season, and that will certainly fuel increased interest in Wii and Nintendo DS,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “While there’s no way to gauge total demand for our hardware systems, we’re trying to satisfy as many of those players as possible.”

The Wii has always hard to get a hold off main because everyone wants a Wii because of it’s motion sensibly and super fun games. Also the Nintendo DS was mainly always in ample supply and with this announcement it looks like it will be pretty easy for you to get your hands on DS this holiday season along with a Wii.

We call it this because in the following months you will start to feel a little hole in your pocket start to burn and by the end of this year you are going to need a tailor for your pants, but in an anti-homo way. After months of waiting patiently this month via Nintendo Power details for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars have hit the fan. From taking a look at the pics the first thing that came to mind had to do with the gameplay, and could the lower hardware power handle the complexity of the Nintendo DS or the Grand Theft Auto University or could this franchise be compromised.The answer is very simple to answer and that is no it has not. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown War will feature its classic sandbox style gameplay and to add to the mix a 3D cel-shaded city with a huge array of various cars and a 24 hour different whether affect but it will still bear a M rating from the ESRB. While mission are shorter the game is design for a more frequent play time.There are radio station but instead real music there will be instrumental mainly because MIDI is preference on the DS.

Style controls are to be implement, and aiming will be control by with the pad.You can switch to auto aim by using the R button.User Inference will be handle in an in-game PDA. Players can view their contacts,e-mail,stats,map,GPS, and the music player via the PDA.

Alright. On Thursday, Capcom released a shareholder report, which stated that they will no longer be willing to make anymore platform exclusives for all three of the system that are right now out on the market. I know it was hard to believe at the time, but… Yeeah, you get the point. Now, once’s again thanks to the guys over a Nintendo Everything we can sleep happier. On the sidelines of the Games Convention, Konami announced in the pages of Famitsu this week a new episode of the hit series Suikoden for the DS. The game is entitled Genso Suikoden Tierkreis it will feature 3D characters models who are evolved in 2D environments, which is the same kind of designed used for the Pokemon video game series for the DS. The gameplay takes advantage of the DS’s touch screen, the top screen shows character status information. And it will also use the DS stylus system so that you can enter battle commands on the touch screen. The game uses a four person battle system much like in Suikoden IV. It is set in the Kingdom of Salsaville, the game opens at the defeat of the 108 Stars of Destiny at the hands of the game’s villain with only four survivors, not including the new hero. No release date for Genso Suikoden Tierkreis has been given for the moment.

According to GamesIndustry.Biz, Miles Holmes, the lead designer on the upcoming Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, told Eurogamer.de in an interview that they have some really big plans for Mass Effect. In the interview he told them that “Having a DS version would be an awesome way to keep interest alive and keep it going in addition to the next one.”

A rumor has been circulating throughout the web, stating that Capcom could be bring one of there beloved games to the PlayStation Portable system for sometime now. But, according to the Japaneses PSP Game Listing for Capcom, Capcom maybe bring Devil May Cry to the PlayStation Portable after all. The list shows recently released and unreleased PSP titles, when the list it translated it says the release date is "To Be Determined". Could this mean that Capcom maybe planning to reveal the PSP version of the game at the upcoming E3 this month? We really don’t know at this point but lets just hope they are.

Looks like Sadness does have a way of spreading, Nibris have just release the first artwork and details for Sadness on the DS to Nintendo gaming website Nintendic. A new horror game coming from the creative team that originally conceived the idea of Sadness for Wii. The game will be entitled Sadness: The Children of the Night, the game will follow the original revelation of ‘The Children of the Night’, a third-person horror game that comes in full colour (or color) and will be exclusive to the DS and has a deep screenplay-esque script that will be sure to shock gamers to the core.

Black Rock Studios along with Disney Interactive Studios revealed today the box art for the upcoming off-road racing video game. The box on the right will grace stores in  Europe, the Middle East and Africa while North America, Asia, Latin America and Australia will get the box art on the left this gam set to be released in the Fall of 2008 and we where assured  by director Jason Avent that both game would run the same on the 360 version and Playstation 3  version.

Blockbuster Inc. , a leading global provider of in-home movies and game entertainment, today announced it has rolled out retail video games and game hardware to all U.S. corporate-owned BLOCKBUSTER stores as part of a broader plan to significantly expand its game business.

Now, for the first time, customers can go into any U.S. corporate-owned BLOCKBUSTER store and purchase video game titles, hardware and accessories for the Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS game systems. In addition to expanding its retail games offering, Blockbuster is adding more game titles for rental with more copies than before across all platforms.

Blockbuster is featuring its expanded game offerings — including hardware and accessories, along with rental and retail titles such as "Mario Kart" and the soon-to-be-released "Grand Theft Auto IV" — on the new release wall in a specially designated game section.

Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that a new Prince of Persia is scheduled to release Holiday 2008 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and PC. This new Prince of Persia marks the debut of the critically acclaimed franchise on next-generation consoles. Developed by Ubisoft’s award winning Montreal studio that brought you Assassin’s Creed(TM) and the same all-star team that created the previously acclaimed Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy, Prince of Persia is opening a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe, featuring a new breed of gameplay. The game is poised to rejuvenate the action-adventure genre in addition to introducing a brand-new illustrative art style.

Sega has released a new trailer and video for there upcoming game Iron Man, the first video showcase a new trailer for the game and the second video is "The Making Of Iron Man: The Video Game" with Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man/Tony Stark in the movie. Not too long ago Lucasarts announced that you will be able to play as Darth Vader in The Force Unleashed. Now, we have found some cool gameplay of Darth Vader from in the game. The Force Unleashed follows the story of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice as he trys to get rid of remaining Jedi. The is set between Episode III and Episode IV, which happens to be dark times in the Star Wars universe. The game is set to release this September.

Good news, Lucasarts has announced Darth Vader , fictional character from the Star Wars universe, will be playable in The Force Unleashed. But, you will only be available to play as him in first level of the game, and from then you’ll have to take the role of Vader’s apprentice.
