The day that we’ve been waiting for is finally upon us. Today, Nintendo confirmed that the DSi will be in U.S. markets on April 5, 2009  and that it will be launching in black and BLUE - blue being a new color – for the price of $169.99.

The DSi, which has been on sale in Japan since November 2008, has only been available in black and white. And it features two 0.3 megapixel cameras, larger screens, a new SD card slot and better speakers, but, sadly, there isn’t a Game Boy Advance cartridge like the others.

“Ever since the arrival of the first Game Boy, consumers worldwide have turned to Nintendo for their portable gaming,” said NoA sales boss Cammie Dunaway. “Nintendo DSi builds on Nintendo’s commitment to bringing fun and creative entertainment to everyone, and will allow consumers to personalize and share their very own experiences.”

Many of us already know the true power of Nintendo in the gaming market, but what was a real shocker, was the amount that Nintendo DSi, the newest model of the Nintendo DS, sold by in Japan. So this news should come as no shocker.

Today, in the pages of Enterbrain, the publisher of Famitsu, we learn that the Nintendo DSi has already passed more than a million units in Japan, after making it market debut on November 1.

The company, Nintendo, reveals the numbers to the point, according to them the DSi has sold about 1,062,416 units so far, compared to the DS Lite which has sold about 17,348,252 and the DS which sold 6,449,206 to date.

It’s about time, when the Wii was released back in 2007 it was like hell to get your hands on a Wii, and you know what, it still is. According to Kotaku, during their press conference in San Francisco this morning Nintendo assured that the Wii and DS Lite would be in ample supply this holiday season.

“We have new games and new experiences for every kind of player this holiday season, and that will certainly fuel increased interest in Wii and Nintendo DS,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “While there’s no way to gauge total demand for our hardware systems, we’re trying to satisfy as many of those players as possible.”

The Wii has always hard to get a hold off main because everyone wants a Wii because of it’s motion sensibly and super fun games. Also the Nintendo DS was mainly always in ample supply and with this announcement it looks like it will be pretty easy for you to get your hands on DS this holiday season along with a Wii.
