Today, 2K Sports revealed the contents of the in-game soundtrack for their soon to be released game, NBA 2K9. The music is heavy on rap, featuring music from the likes of The Cool Kids, Beastie Boys, The Pharcyde, N.E.R.D, Brand New Heavies, Santogold, Gnarls Barkley, and DJ UNK, amongst others. While the bulk of the soundtrack contains previously released tunes, there will an exclusive track by DJ UNK, along with an original recording by The Cool Kids titled “2K Pennies.”

“Video games are an important part of culture and our lifestyle. For years we’ve been playing games, but have never been inspired by the songs in them,” said Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids. “When 2K Sports presented us with an opportunity to create an original song for NBA 2K9, we knew we had to create a song that embodied the sport of basketball. We had to make kids everywhere appreciate the song as much as the game.”

As we gear up for the undisputed 10th season of one of the greatest gaming franchise of all time is back and It’s ready to show that it has come a long way from Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal. With more then seven years being on the top it’s kind of hard to improve yourself so many times. But, it’s NBA 2K and improving is what 2K Games does best. And today, when I was surfing Youtube I came across this very  interesting video showing the team stats from NBA 2K9 from a lucky gamer who had gotten there hands on the game early. Seeing that overall performance is a key feature that will help you with your franchise mode while some teams have increase some have not but that’s not going to stop you buying this game right? It’s really in your face!
