We knew that it was coming, but you can’t say for sure until the product strikes gold. Today, Insomniac Games revealed that R&CF: A Crack in Time has gone gold, and that it has sent out to manufacturing to be printed and shipped out across the country for its release on October 27th.

“It’s been an incredible experience seeing this game come together at Insomniac over the last year,” says James Stevenson, Community Relations Manager at Insomniac Games on the PlayStation.blog. “From our earliest prototypes of Clank’s time gameplay, to the final space exploration levels that allow Ratchet to land on and explore spherical moons, there has been a ton of effort and love put into this game by the team here at Insomniac.”

A Crack in Time is destined to be yet another huge exclusive for Sony’s machine and, as always, Insomniac is destined to produce a quality title, as you can tell.

Ratchet & Clank have always been know for their array of entertaining weaponry, and in the upcoming installment, it’s no different. At a panel entitled “Weapons 101″ at PAX, Insomniac creative director Brian Allgeier revealed some of the new weaponry that will be featured in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.

The most entertaining of the weaponry had to be the Rift Inducer 3000. The Rift Inducer 300 summons tentacles from an interdimensional portal, which in turn grasp enemies and abscond with them through the vortex. Which, as you can tell, is very entertaining to watch.

Another weapon is the Chimp-O-Matic. The Chimp-O-Matic turns your enemies into adorable monkeys, and robotic enemies into robotic toy monkeys with cymbals – which is a gut buster. “Has there been a time when a weapon felt more ‘Resistance’ than ‘Ratchet’?,” Insomniac stated during the panel.

We have just been informed that Ratchet and Clank will be making a return this fall on the PS3 in their newest adventure Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. The game promises an the experience of “travel[ing] back in time”, and answering some of the franchise fans’ biggest questions about the game.

The plot plays as follows; after discovering that lovable robot Clank’s disappearance was engineered by Dr. Nefarious, the Wrench-swinging Ratchet races to save his best friend. Along the way, both will finally uncover the hidden truth behind their origins, and discover their ultimate destinies.

Powered by Insomniac Games’ fourth-generation PS3 technology, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time will continue to bring the experience of playing your own computer generated animation movie to PS3. A Crack In Time arrives in stores in Autumn 2009.
