Though its influences weren’t revealed, Shadow Guardian, a new title being develop for the iOS, seems to lend heavily from Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise, which explains our serious case of deja vu.

The game follows the adventures of Jason Cole, who embarks on a globe-trotting adventure in search of powerful ancient artifacts. It’s expected to hit the market before the joyful holiday weekend and it’s underdevelopment at acclaimed phone developer, Gameloft, known for many hit App Store iterations.

Shadow Guardian seems to be a technical push for the device, pushing the iPhone to its “limits”. However, it will be interesting to see what becomes of this title, seeing that its the Uncharted of the iOS.

If you own an iPhone, and you love Chinatown Wars, I have some very exciting news for you. Today, Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will headed be to Apple’s handy portable system this fall. “Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple’s new gaming platforms.”

Chinatown Wars is currently available for the Nintendo DS and is also coming this fall for the PlayStation Portable system. The game follows the story of Huang Lee, a young Triad who travels to Liberty City after the mysterious death of his father. Players will navigate their way through the streets as they uncover the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate, delivering the unprecedented amount of depth that has become a true trademark of the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

During their annual World Wide Developers Conference, Apple announced their newest most powerful iPhone yet, iPhone 3GS.

The S, said the company, stands for Speed, meaning the new phone will load a web page three times faster than its predecessors. Apple calls it “the most powerful, fastest iPhone we’ve ever made.” Also, viewing Excel is faster and loading SimCity is 2.4 faster. And it can also capture video at 30FPS VGA.

It will have hardware support for the OpenGL ES 2.0 standard, and this should make graphics-intensive applications run smoother.

The 3GS can take voice commands, has a more powerful battery, and a starting price of $199 for a version with 16 gigabytes of memory. There’s also an 32 gigabyte version for $299. The phones will begin to go on sale on June 19th, but the 16 gigabytes phone will release on the 17th. However, the existing model iPhone 3G will remain on the market with a reduced price of $99.

And the un-candid teasing from Kojima Productions continues, and you though you were mean. The developers behind the Metal Gear series still plan on announcing the game at E3 – revealed by a tip to 1UP sometime ago.

However, there’s an advertisement running in the latest issue of  popular Japanese gaming mag, Famitsu, which hints, and teases at an announcement on 2009.5.18 and its all written within the clouds. Anyway, right now, it’s only reported that Famitsu is running the advertisement. So, once again, hold until May the 18th for details.

In addition, it was spotted someone – we don’t know there names – some hidden clues, hidden within the advertisement.

Please say it ain’t so. According to a post on the official 3D Realms forums, long running developer 3D Realms has closed its doors for the final time due to funding issues – as sources reported.

Although the developers did not explicitly confirm the closure, the recently relaunched Apogee Software and its publishing partner Deep Silver issued a statement saying they were “not affected by the situation at 3D Realms. Development on the Duke Nukem Trilogy is continuing as planned.”

3D Realms were working on such games as Duke Nukem Forever, which was originally announced back in 1997. However, Duke Nukem Forever publisher Take-Two did confirmed to Shacknews that it wasn’t funding the project.

“We can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title,” said Take-Two VP of communications Alan Lewis in a prepared statement.

The machines have yet to take over, but that won’t stop the media barrage of Terminator Salvation from continuing it’s onslaught.  Here’s the latest trailer profiling the terrestrial-based mechanized baddies.

“Terminator Salvation is a third person shooter where the player needs to “constantly move, flank, cover and utilize their squad to progress.” The player must battle Skynet enemies from the upcoming film as well as new enemies specifically designed for the game.

The game features a campaign that can be played alone or cooperatively with one other local player via split-screen.”

In response to the latest PlayStation Portable 2 rumors, which were started by IGN, a rep from Sony has replied to the, so-called, ‘non-sense’ rumors.

When speaking to TechRadar yesterday, a SCEE rep told them that in no uncertain terms that there were definitely no current plans for a PSP 2, despite IGN’s claims from its unnamed sources.

To quote original IGN article: IGN has learned from several credible sources that the PSP 2 is indeed on the horizon, and will be packing multi-touch technology. According to our sources, the PSP 2 will feature a widescreen multi-touch interface comparable to that of the iPhone for both in-game control and menu navigation.

As we all know, Kojima Productions currently is working on a iPhone version of Metal Gear Solid called Metal Gear Solid Touch, but if we look back sometime before the announcement you will probably see a FPS rumor. This was because Kojima had visited the offices of Infinity Ward to do god knows what, earlier that day.

Now, however according to Famitsu, Hideo Kojima tells them that he is working on two new games currently in development at Kojima Productions.

Here is how he said it was going to go down: The title that will be announced first is being made in a style similar to the way his team has already done in the past, while the second will be produced and restructured by Kojima Productions with the overseas market in mind.

Kojima’s current goal for his development team is, “a software house that can compete with the best of the best from America and Europe.” Could one of these be a FPS game?

Personally, I have mad respect for Michael Phelps, I mean the man is the best Olympian of all time and he has a hot girlfriend. But, none the less, global video game publisher, 505 Games, announced today a new partnership with Phelps to develop next generation console video games.

The first title is scheduled to release in spring 2010 and will be developed by 505 Games newly formed U.S. operations in Los Angeles, adding just one more thing to his still amazing list.

In a video interview Matt Shell, Marketing Manager at LucasArts, confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be will be unleashing a demo via Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network in August.

The demo will feature the special version of the Tie Fighter Construction Facility level, the demo will also feature very special powers and a special ending that will not be featured in the full game.
