In Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Dark Knight is trapped inside the dark and dangerous confines of Arkham Asylum, Gotham City’s asylum for the mentally insane. When the odds are stacked again him, Batman needs all of his gadgets along with his brute strength to fend off The Joker’s minions. This new trailer showcases how the Batarang, Explosive Gel, Grapnel Gun and Line Launcher are used in Batman: Arkham Asylum to fight against an army of inmates.

In an interview with Joystiq, Rocksteady’s lead narrative designer Paul Crocker confirmed that Batman: Arkham Asylum will be a single-player experience only.

“No. Like I say, we’re just focusing on being Batman,” said Paul Crocker. “We could have spent less time on that, and more time on adding stuff in, but really the game is successful because you feel like you’re Batman.”

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, developed by Rocksteady Studios, the player assumes the role of Batman as he delivers The Joker to Arkham Asylum. There, the imprisoned super-villains have set a trap and an immersive combat gaming experience unfolds. With an original script penned by Emmy Award-winning Batman writer Paul Dini, the game brings the universe of DC Comics’ detective to life with stunning graphics.

And the awesomeness continues. After revealing characters such as Bane and Harley Quinn, it’s time for the vixen of ivy-ness to show whats she’s got in the latest trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum.

“Batman: Arkham Asylum offers players the chance to battle Gotham’s worst villains with Batman’s physical and psychological strength in a graphically distinct and story-driven game,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment when the game was announced. “We look forward to working with Eidos on expanding DC Comics’ world-renowned character Batman in the game space with a noticeably different feature set in an incredibly dark interactive environment.”

In the words of the famous Robin – who isn’t in this game, apparently. “Golly Gee Willickers BATMAN!” Today, Eidos revealed that “FreeFlow Combat” trailer for the upcoming title, Batman: Arkham Asylum. The trailer showcases the Dark Knight utilizing the unique FreeFlow combat system to chain together unlimited combos seamlessly and battle with huge groups of The Joker’s henchmen in brutal melee brawls. Batman even takes on the immense Bane character in this action packed trailer.

This is an interesting experiment that seem to be giving fans mixed feelings, but that’s okay because all the experimentation is finally over. Today, Miday announced that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has gone gold and is scheduled to be available in retail stores throughout North America on November 16, 2008, and throughout Europe on November 21, 2008.

“We are proud to release to manufacturing Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, the culmination of two years of effort and a rewarding collaboration with our friends at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics,” said Ed Boon, executive producer and co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise.

“So far the response has been overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic, and I can’t wait to get this into the hands of MK diehards and DC Comics fans alike when the game becomes available on Nov. 16 in North America and Nov. 21 throughout Europe! “

Comic-Con was held last week and it seems to have given some ideas to Capcom and DC Comics. Ideas indeed… Today, both company announced a partnership for a comic book adaptation of the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil franchises. The details on who the writing and  designing are yet to be revealed so is it’s official release date. But I’m sure that Wildstorm, a privately company owned by DC Comics, will be doing work on the comics.

According to Kotaku, Mortal Kombat‘s co-creator Ed Boon was speaking about an eighth entry into the Mortal Kombat franchise. The game was described as “very dark, serious” and a “gritty” take on the series, a back to basics reboot that was free of “vibrant, saturated colors.” It was said to be heavily inspired by the look of Gears of War. Boon goes onto say why the game was scrapped, MK8 was scrapped when the DC Comics deal solidified. Meaning that if DC Comics didn’t “solidified” the deal we would have gotten a “gritty” and more “serious” Mortal Kombat game.

DC Comics, the largest English-language comic book publisher in the world, in partnership with Epic Games, Inc., announced plans today to publish a comic book series based on the hugely popular action video game franchise Gears of War. The series is slated to debut from DC’s WildStorm publishing imprint in October. More details about the series, including the creative team, will be released at a later date.

The winner of over 30 Game of the Year awards, Gears of War for Xbox 360 and PC features amazing tactical action and multiplayer excitement. The plot thrusts gamers into a deep and harrowing story of humankind’s epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. Gears of War 2, which continues the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad in an epic saga of survival, loss and retribution, is the sequel to the blockbuster game that sold over 4.5 million copies and redefined the third-person tactical action game genre. Gears of War 2 is being developed exclusively for Xbox 360 and will launch this November.
