And you thought you that you couldn’t get enough Halo. During the San Diego Comic-Con, Microsoft revealed its plans for an anime-style Halo miniseries entitled “Halo Legends“.

“Five production houses in Japan are handling the physical animation, but Microsoft’s creative staff is approving major visual and storytelling decisions,” said Frank O’Connor, creative director for 343 Industries, the Microsoft division that oversees all Halo products to the LA Times.

Those five well-known anime studios are Bones, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G, Studio4 C, and Toei Animation. They’ll be playing key parts in “Halo Legends” seven-part series product. “Halo Legends” will release on DVD and “digital platforms” in early 2010 through Warner Bros.

“If you look at how George Lucas held on to ‘Star Wars,’ not just to make money from action figures but to control the direction the universe went in, you can see why we think it’s pretty vital,” said O’Connor. “Luckily, Microsoft has the resources to enable us to do that.”

Valkyria Chronicles has seem to have hit gold within the month of April with a huge sales jump from its predecessor month March, skyrocketing the game into best-seller lists, off of store shelves.

In the month of April alone, Valkyria Chronicles sales in North America increased by over 400% from, once again, March.

Half a year after a game is out, being able to say that sales doubled is a fantastic thing – that sales suddenly tripled is even more rare, said SEGA.

The burning hot sales can be attributed to community contests, DLC and the temporary price drop to $30.

In the shadow of the dating and pricing of the DLC, it now seems that Sega would like to continue the story of ‘Valkyria Chronicles’ in the form of a sequel.

In a report by PS3center, it was revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, that the games producer Nonaka Ryutaro was ecstatic that Valkyria was embraced by the Japanese public in the way it was. He was also excited about the  anime’s debut, explaining that the anime served as another means to further develop the IP.

However, in light of the recent popularity, Ryutaro told the magazine that he really wanted to do a sequel to the game, and he was adamant about not leaving the game at just one title.

Afro Samurai, as you may already know, is about a lifelong journey to avenge a father killed by the lethal fighter Justice. And it looks like Afro Samurai is going to have to add another journey to his list. Originally planned for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America on 27 January 2009 Afro Samurai is set to make an arrival in Europe 2009.
