They’re currently at the tip of an industry controversy; respectively because of the companies Infinity Ward crisis. However, during this fiasco, Activision revealed that Sledgehammer Games, a newly formed studio led by former Visceral Games executives, will be developing a new Call of Duty title that will “extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre.”

Exactly what the publisher meant by this, they didn’t say. However, it did confirm that there will be another Call of Duty title in 2011, but it’s unclear if the title is Sledgehammer’s, or another Infinity Ward title. That said, there was also conformation that Treyarch will be handling the development Call of Duty 2010, rumored to be set either during the Cold War or Vietnam War.

“2010 will be another important year for the Call of Duty franchise,” stated Mike Griffith, President and CEO of Activision Publishing. “In addition to continued catalog sales, new downloadable content from Infinity Ward and a new Call of Duty release, we are excited about the opportunity to bring the franchise to new geographies, genres and players.”

While we’re waiting the for release of Modern Warfare 2, Activision has confirmed that yet another Call of Duty title will be headed our way in 2010.

In a conference call, Activision president, Mike Griffith stated that, “In [calendar year] 2010, Activision Publishing is expected to release strong, innovative new titles,” and that “The diversified lineup will include titles based on the best selling franchises including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Shrek, [and] Spider-Man.”

With that said, it comes as no surprise that Activision would milk its most popular franchise, but, as for another World at War Call of Duty title, Activision hasn’t revealed any details about the next Call of Duty title, or if it’s a sequel to World at War.

I will have to admit that I did indeed stay up to see this video, but it wasn’t because I was bored and had nothing important to do, example sleeping, it’s because I really want this game to be good, an sometimes even great. Anyway, speaking on it, on the season premiere episode of Game Trailers TV they revealed the first trailer for the upcoming movie game, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Over the last couple of months we have heard nothing but whispers on this game, it was not until just recently that we heard that the game would be revealed in the next issue of EGM. But, none the less, we all can’t wait to see this game and all its gory, that is why Activision has revealed the release date for the game.

If you didn’t know, the game is base on the upcoming movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine by Twentieth Century Fox and discernibly the game is set to coincide with the movie in May ‘09.
