CD Projekt Red has shown that it can develop a “modern-RPG,” a game with non-linear storytelling, excellent characters and a rich world with the past The Witcher titles. Now, the developer wants to bring all of those elements to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, its open world game.
“We decided that we were ready for the next step,” studio head Adam Badowski told GameInformer. “We decided to combine two types of games. We mastered storytelling in RPG games — that’s our strongest side. On the other hand, we feel that we missed something. We missed the huge freedom of open-world games like Skyrim.”
It’s important because for the first time The Witcher doesn’t have chapters, acts, or other artificial breakpoints, Geralt’s story is what you make it. The Witcher 3 is expected for a 2014 release on PC and “all high-end platforms available.”
