Throughout this console generation, Nintendo has been criticized for its focus on the casual market — something that has distance the console manufacture form its hardcore market. However, at its recent E3 press conference, the console manufacture proved to everyone that it can deliver to both its hardcore and casual markets.
That said, in an interview with Japanese business magazine Nikkei, president Satoru Iwata said that the company is working closely with developers to “expand into elaborate games targeting serious gamers” for the Nintendo 3DS.
Iwata then went on to state that most of the software of the current DS caters more for non-game players, and he believes that advances in graphics and gameplay on the new handheld will help rectify this. “These partnerships are good for both Nintendo and the software developers,” Iwata added.
