Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe didn’t achieve both critical and commercial success, much like its predecessors. Instead, it achieved only commercial success. That in mind, Warner Brothers Interactive have announced the newest installment into the Mortal Kombat franchise, featuring the return “fatalities”.
Being developed over at NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat is said to include extensive online play, a “tag-team” game option that supports up to four players in two-person teams — in conjunction to the classic 1v1 option — and “the deepest story mode of any fighting game”.
“We can’t wait for players to get their hands on Mortal Kombat. The game really is a response to what players have been demanding: mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever,” added creative director, Ed Boon.
