Gears of War 3 Announced, Emerges April 5, 2011
Though televised programs aren’t known as major announcement venues, Epic Game has changed that stereotype with the announcement of the third Gears of War installment. Last night on the Jimmy Fallon show, designer director Cliff Blensinzki announced and detailed Gears of War 3′s newest enemies and features.
“In this game, there are these new enemies called the Lambent, which are these crazy kind of tentacle monsters that can mutate when you fight them,” boasted Bleszinski to Fallon. “We have all sorts of new weapons, including the double-barreled shotgun, and we finally have female soldiers in the game, which is something that people have been asking for for a long time.”
With the last human city destroyed and the remaining survivors stranded, Marcus Fenix and his comrades are charged with the protection the remaining humans from the Locust horde. Gears of War 3 will arrive in North America and Asia on April 5, in Japan in April 7, and in Europe and all other territories April 8.
