Though it doesn’t eclipse the ground breaking sales of its rival, Electronic Arts have announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has sold over 2.3 million units since its release earlier this month. Meaning that, Bad Company 2 has achieved double-platinum status within two weeks of it being on the market, which is a remarkable achievement.
Along with this announcement, DICE, its developers, also revealed its to-date multiplayer statistics. Revealing that to-date more than 43 million weapons and 81 billion points have been unlocked in the game’s online multiplayer mode, which has also seen 230,000 peak concurrent users — equaling more then 2.9 million hours played.
“We are so thrilled with the success of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 sales and fan response,” said Executive Producer Karl Magnus Troedsson. “In the first 48 hours we had such a tremendous rush to multiplayer gameplay that our servers experienced overwhelming demand. This is a testament to the massive response players have had worldwide for the extraordinary action experienced in the Battlefield sandbox.”
