Ubisoft has confirmed the multiplayer mode for the newest version of Splinter Cell: Conviction that was unveiled at this years E3.
“We’re going to have a multiplayer, but I can’t talk about it anymore than that. It’s part of the things we’re going to announce during the summer,” producer Alexandre Parizeau told Joystiq.
Joystiq then went on to ask about the possibility of their being downloadable content within the game’s future.
“DLC? Yes, it’s always part of our strategies. We always want to keep the content fresh, so as soon as the team is done with the game we can move on and continue expanding the experience,” he added.
Multiplayer historically plays an important role in the Splinter Cell series, but Ubisoft has – until now – been cagey about this next instalment, which is exclusive to Xbox 360.

The only people who go on about the supposed superiority of Chaos Theory are delusional elitists. Chaos Theory punished newcomers for not immediately understanding the entire gameplay mechanics.
Most people are just upset because Double Agent separates the skilled strategists from the gadget relying muppets; simple as that.
DA had a superior gameplay. You only had yourself and your team mates to rely on, not an entire host of garbled gadgetry and elements that do not belong in a multiplayer game (Lasers and security cameras) .
I still play DA, and have been for 3 years or whatever, yet i still hope Conviction is very different from all of it's predecessors; why move backwards?

That's why us old schoolers love PT and CT...it was extremely challenging and the learning curve that no other game could attempt to match. The interesting thing is...these new games that have come out have been a step backwards! Typical FPS, and focusing solely on graphics! Fun for awhile, very repetitive...The splinter cell saga games were unique and innovative, so updating the visuals and adding some twists would, in my opinion, be a great step forward!

I love the SC series but, why did they have to ruin everything by removing Versus Mode? That is one of the major reasons why me (and alot of SC fans) really enjoy the series. I am still getting the game, but i have thoughts that the game will fail sadly.
