Modern Warfare 2 To Focus on Entertainment, Not Realism

modernwarfare2 Modern Warfare 2 To Focus on Entertainment, Not RealismAlright. Modern Warfare 2 may seem to capture image of war, but studio head Vince Zampella says that with Modern Warfare 2 Infinity Ward aims for entertainment, not realism.

“We go for authenticity not realism,” Zampella told Official PlayStation Magazine. “We’re not making a sim, we’re making entertainment. We want it to look real like an action movie.”

Zamplella explains why the futuristic weapons don’t ruin the game’s authenticity. “You see a guy in an action movie, what he does is a little over the top. It makes for a great movie.”

I don’t think they understand what words mean.

I think they do. Star Wars is not realistic, however it can be authentic if it can be immersive and consistent.

You can’t really be authentic when real-world prototypes for weapons in-game for example don’t actually exist.

As long as their definition of “authenticity” doesn’t mean someone can aim a sniper rifle via iron sights and score a headshot, that’s fine.

If they do take such liberties with playability though it would be regrettable.

YAHH!! lets totally change up what made Cod4 amazing.. very smart.

Modern Warfare and WAW are both awesome. This should be no exception. I’m biding my time with Sacred 2 and am more than ready to own the taint of all the nOObs who buy MW2

and lets make it into like… into a badass movie style game, forget this accurate and realistic crap, I mean, who looks for that in a first person shooter (sarcasm)

games that are too realistic are boring…ie Tom Clancy games

i think COD games stike an excellent balance between realism and fantasy, which any good game should do

@alexx I really don’t think that realism made Modern Warfare fun. Because, when you think about it, that’s what’s making games today boring. Of course, there are some exceptions to the matter.

That seems really lame that they would do this.

In my opinion. I preferred the more realistic aspects of the game, however it was not true to life. But the fact that it came close, I think, was what made it so entertaining. Hardcore game-types were my favorite. It is all about your senses and not about learning to read meters or radars. I hope that at least in the new game they will keep hardcore settings and maybe create more of them to match the number of regular setting game-types in call of duty: 4. I have seen the new gameplay videos and they made me drool. Look out MLG networks, it's going to be all out war!

I think there heading in the right direction with this.
