Capcom: Resident Evil 5 ‘Versus Mode’ DLC Not A Key

re5sc4 Capcom: Resident Evil 5 Versus Mode DLC Not A KeyIt was rumored by many sources earlier today that the newest addition to Resident Evil 5, its ‘Versus Mode’ DLC, is really a key, which opens locked content that was already on the disc.

However, Capcom’s Vice President, Christian Svensson, stands his ground and says, “Keys are 100K or less. It is not a key. We have said in the past, it uses assets from the disc (like levels, models, audio, etc.) but the code is new and does not exist on the disc.”

Sounds reasonable. However, 100K files used to unlock content are very common, but Capcom isn’t a stranger to the process. Recently, it was revealed that the soon to be released Street Fighter IV alternate costumes were done in that fashion.
