Well, you know what they say ‘you really never miss something until it’s gone’ and it seems that Activision has got that feeling all over. Although heavy metal roadie fable Brutal Legend was let go in the Activision-Vivendi merger, Activision still thinks that it has all the rights for the game.
According to the industry weblog The Cut Scene, Activision has sent a later to both EA, who picked up the game after Activision-Vivendi merger, and Double Fine stating that the rights to the game is still under negotiations. Meaning that it debugs EA’s deal, but Double Fine says that it owns the rights to the game.
In the report it says, Activision received payment from Atari to release its rights to Ghostbusters and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and may be seeking the same from EA. But, a rep for EA thinks that ‘Activision would try to sue.’
